Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the Buttercup Venues FAQ

At Buttercup Venues, we work closely with film and photo producers, event teams, and brand coordinators from around the world to curate Los Angeles' most unique locations. Below you’ll find answers to the questions we get asked most often. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, contact us directly—we’re always happy to help!

Can we book a venue directly through your website?

Not exactly.
We’re not a booking platform—we’re a location service. Let us know what you’re looking for, and we’ll curate a shortlist of standout LA venues that match your brief. Our service is personal, hands-on, and tailored to your project.

How is Buttercup Venues different from platforms like Peerspace or Giggster?

We’re boutique, curated, and highly selective.
You’ll communicate directly with the owners, Bruce and Marc. No endless scrolling—just a handful of spaces that truly fit your needs. We cut through the noise and only send you venues that stand out.

Can I book a venue on short notice?

We’ll always try to help!
Send us your brief and we’ll do our best to match you with available venues that meet your timeline. While we can’t guarantee last-minute bookings, we always strive to accommodate urgent needs when possible.

Do you work with student films or school projects?

We specialize in high-end commercial productions and large-scale events.
Unfortunately, we’re not set up to accommodate student films or school projects at this time.

What types of events do you help with?

Our specialty is high-impact creative projects, including:

  • High-end film shoots and photoshoots

  • Large-scale private events

  • Experiential and immersive brand activations

  • TV and film production locations

  • Commercials and product launches

If you have a unique vision, let us know—we love a creative challenge!

Can I visit venues before making a decision?

Absolutely!
Once you’ve narrowed down your options, we’ll coordinate site visits so you can see the spaces in person and ensure they’re the perfect fit for your project or event.

What information should I include in my venue brief?

The more details, the better.
Please share:

  • Type of event or production

  • Desired location(s)

  • Style or aesthetic

  • Budget

  • Date(s)

  • Must-have features

The more we know, the better we can hand-pick spaces that are just right.

How are venue fees determined?

Venue rates are customized and can vary based on:

  • Nature of your event: Brand activations, immersive experiences, pop-ups, film shoots, etc.

  • The specific property: Each venue sets its own rates.

  • Duration: Longer or multi-day events may cost more.

  • Number of attendees: Larger groups can affect pricing.

  • Impact on the property: Special effects, set builds, or large equipment may increase costs.

  • Time of year: Peak seasons may come at a premium.

  • Parking needs: Special arrangements may incur additional fees.

We’ll always communicate all fees clearly before you commit, so there are no surprises.

What additional fees might apply besides the venue fee?

Depending on your needs, you may also encounter:

  • Prep, post, prelight, or rehearsal days

  • Hold days (to reserve a venue)

  • Site representative fees

  • Electric tie-in & labor

  • Equipment rentals

  • Dumpsters & waste management

  • Parking & valet

  • Pre-event cleaning & day porters

  • Multiple site visits

  • Day & overnight security

  • High-speed internet

  • Exterior signage

  • Property management fees

  • TBD (to be determined) parking

We’ll always provide clear, itemized estimates based on your requirements.

What is required to confirm a location?

To confirm your booking, you’ll need:

  1. Signed License Agreement (usually ours)

  2. Certificate of Insurance (COI) naming the property as additionally insured

  3. Full payment of all fees, including security deposit, via ACH transfer (no checks or credit cards)

  4. Payment at least 3 days before your production starts

Once these are complete, your booking is secured!

When will I get my security deposit back?

After your project wraps, we’ll do a final walk-through. Provided the property is returned in original condition, your security deposit will be returned within 7–10 business days, minus any applicable deductions.
