Frequently Asked Questions

We work closely with film and photo producers, event teams, and brand coordinators from around the world.

Here are some quick answers to help you understand how we work and what to expect.

Can we book a venue directly through your website?

Not exactly. We’re not a booking platform, we’re a location service. You tell us what you’re looking for, and we curate a shortlist of unique LA venues that match your brief.

How is Buttercup Venues different from other platforms like Peerspace or Giggster?

We’re boutique, curated, and highly selective. You will be in contact with the owners Bruce and Marc. You won’t find hundreds of listings to scroll through. We cut through the noise and send you only what fits your needs. No fillers, just spaces that stand out.

Can I book a venue on short notice?

Send us your brief and we’ll do our best to match you with available venues that meet your timeline. While we can’t guarantee short notice bookings, we’ll always try to help where we can.

Do you work with student films or school projects?

We specialize in high-end commercial productions and large-scale events. Unfortunately, we’re not set up to accommodate student films or school projects at this time.

What types of events do you help with?

We specialize in high-end commercial productions, film shoots, photoshoots, and large-scale private events. If you have a unique vision for a project or celebration, just let us know—our curated venues are designed to make your event stand out.

Can I visit venues before making a decision?

Absolutely! Once you’ve narrowed down your options, we’ll coordinate site visits so you can see the spaces in person and ensure they’re the perfect fit for your project or event.

What information should I include in my venue brief?

The more details, the better! Let us know the type of event or production, desired location, style or aesthetic, budget, date(s), and any must-have features. This helps us hand-pick spaces that truly fit your needs.

How are venue fees determined?

Venue rates are customized and can vary based on several important factors. Please note that the exact cost for each booking depends on:

  • Nature of the event:  Brand Activations , Experimental Immersive Experiences, Pop Ups , TV & Film Production Locations or Photo

  • The specific property: Each venue sets its own rates, which can differ based on style, amenities, and exclusivity.

  • Duration of the project: Longer events or multi-day shoots may incur higher fees.

  • Number of attendees: Larger guest counts can affect pricing due to increased wear and tear or special requirements.

  • Impact on the property: Events with significant equipment, set builds, or special effects may require additional fees for restoration or protection.

  • Time of year: Peak seasons or high-demand dates may be priced at a premium.

  • Parking needs: If your event requires extensive parking or valet services, this may influence the overall cost.

We’ll always communicate all fees clearly before you make a commitment, so there are no surprises. If you have a budget in mind, let us know—we’ll do our best to match you with venues that fit your needs and price range.

What Additional Fees Might Apply Besides Location or Venue Fees?

In addition to the base location or venue fee, other costs may be required depending on the needs and scope of your project. These can include:

  • Prep, Post, Prelight, or Rehearsal Days: Additional days for setup, breakdown, lighting tests, or rehearsals may be billed separately.

  • Hold Days: Fees to reserve a venue for specific dates, even if not used for filming or events.

  • Site Representative Fees: On-site management or supervision required by the property.

  • Electric Tie-In & Labor: Charges for connecting to the property’s electrical system and labor to support the setup.

  • Equipment Rentals: Costs for lighting, sound, or other production gear needed on-site.

  • Dumpsters & Waste Management: Fees for proper disposal of trash and debris.

  • Parking & Valet: Arrangements for guest or crew parking, including valet services, if required.

  • Pre-Event Cleaning & Day Porters: Cleaning before, during, and after your event, as well as staff to maintain the space.

  • Multiple Site Visits: Charges for additional walkthroughs or scouting trips.

  • Day & Overnight Security: Security personnel to monitor the property during your booking.

  • High-Speed Internet: Temporary or enhanced internet access for events or productions.

  • Exterior Signage: Fees for custom signage or branding on the property.

  • Property Management Fees: Charges for coordination and oversight by property managers.

  • TBD (To Be Determined) Parking: Parking arrangements may have variable costs based on your needs.

All additional fees will be clearly communicated during the planning process, so there are no surprises. If you have specific requirements, let us know and we’ll provide detailed cost estimates tailored to your project.

What is required to confirm a location?

To confirm a location with Buttercup Venues, the following are required:

  • Signed License Agreement: In almost all cases, we use our own license agreement, which must be reviewed and signed.

  • Certificate of Insurance (COI): You must provide a valid Certificate of Insurance naming the property as additionally insured for the duration of your project.

  • Payment of All Fees: All location fees, additional costs, and the security deposit must be paid in full no less than 3 days before the start of your production.

  • Payment Method: We do not accept checks or credit cards. All payments, including the security deposit, must be made via ACH transfer.

Once these requirements are met, your booking will be confirmed and the location secured for your project.

When will I get my security deposit back?

After your project wraps, we’ll conduct a final walk-through to ensure the property is returned in its original condition. Provided there are no damages, overtime, or required repairs, your security deposit will be returned within 7–10 business days, minus any applicable deductions.
